6th Annual Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge

Featuring: Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge

The Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge, the first of its kind in Florida, begins with an in-school program, taught by business volunteers, for high school students within our community. JA volunteers visit high school classrooms, instructing the theory of the stock market and allowing students to gain a fundamental understanding of investing. Business volunteers provide the tools necessary to assist students in developing a solid understanding of how private enterprise works.

Event Completed!

About the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge:

This is Junior Achievement’s sixth year executing this exciting program and fast-paced competition. The Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge is a thrilling high school program that allows students to invest in the stock market using a realistic simulation. Four in-class sessions, taught by a volunteer, prepare students for the final, county-wide competition where teams compete to test their market savviness. The team with the highest net worth in its stock portfolio at the closing bell wins!

How does the Stock Market Challenge work?

Each team receives $1 million to invest in anywhere from 20 – 50 fictitious stocks (based on real-life companies). Each trading day brings news from the financial markets, challenging participants to analyze and decide what actions (if any) they should take.

The twist? Each trading day is between 60 – 90 seconds long! With two 15-minute breaks, we simulate two months in about 90 minutes.

At the end of the competition, the closing bell rings, and student winners are recognized for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Net Worth. Adult competition winners are recognized in two categories, 1st and 2nd Net Worth, and 1st and 2nd Highest Return on Investment.

In addition to being recognized by your corporate peers as being the most astute trader, prizes will be given to the top two teams with the highest net worth. The 1st Place Team will receive recognition on the JA electronic sign, a rotating trophy for the winning school, promotion via JA’s social media channels, and acknowledgement on the JA website.

To participate, you can become an official sponsor, or raise funds to play or sponsor a student team. We invite you to explore the flyer for sponsorship opportunities or click below to register. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
