Israel Velasco is the Region Executive for Popular Bank in South Florida. Mr. Velasco has been in the banking industry for over 37 years, all in South Florida. He joined Popular Bank in June, 2005. He is responsible for the management and financial performance of all lines of business including Retail Banking, Commercial Banking and Popular Association Banking within the Florida Markets. Prior to this, he was President & C.E.O. of Colonial Bank, where he was responsible for leading a $4 billion region with 47 branches in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. He earned his Associates in Arts degree in Business Administration from Miami-Dade Community College back in 1985, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida International University in 1988 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami in 1998.
