MIAMI STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT CAREERS AT DELTA & LATAM AIR LINES

Delta Air Lines & LATAM Airlines Partner with Junior Achievement to Deliver JA Job Shadow

MIAMI, FL (February 2024) – Junior Achievement of Greater Miami, Inc. and Delta Air Lines & LATAM Airlines proudly announce a collaboration to help local students explore careers in the travel and hospitality industries. This initiative provides 30 students with the JA Job Shadow program, immersing them in the world of work through hands-on lessons and experiences, culminating in a Delta LATAM Job Shadow Day at Miami International Airport on February 8, 2024. Collaborations like this underscore the crucial role of corporate mentorship in shaping the aspirations of future generations.

JA Job Shadow helps young people become innovative thinkers in their approach to work. In-class sessions prepare students for a visit to a professional work environment, like Delta Air Lines & LATAM Airlines, where they observe daily activities and face a series of challenges administered by their workplace hosts. Students emerge with the knowledge to research career opportunities and an awareness of the skills needed to land and keep their dream job.

The Delta LATAM Job Shadow Day takes place on February 8, 2024, at Miami International Airport. Approximately 30 students are expected to participate and receive a behind-the-scenes look at jobs at Delta Air Lines & LATAM Airlines.

“We are thrilled to partner with Delta LATAM to provide students with this unique JA Job Shadow experience,” said Mariana Furchi Sly, Executive Vice President, Junior Achievement of Greater Miami, “Many of these students have never been to the airport and aren’t aware that so many job opportunities exist. This program helps show them possibilities for their futures.”

By fostering hands-on engagement, JA Job Shadow exposes students to the diverse spectrum of roles within the travel and hospitality sectors and fosters a sense of professional ambition and possibility. Such initiatives contribute significantly to the broader goal of empowering young minds to envision and pursue rewarding career paths.

In addition to supporting the JA Job Shadow program, Delta Air Lines & LATAM Airlines sponsored 80 high school students’ participation in the JA Stock Market Challenge in October 2023, and facilitated travel for a team of high school students from Coral Gables Senior High to attend a national competition last summer in Washington DC. Junior Achievement is grateful for Delta & LATAM’s continued partnership.
