JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF GREATER MIAMI BENEFITS FROM $70,000 GRANT FROM STATE FARM

Funding Supports Junior Achievement High School Heroes Program in South Florida

MIAMI, FL (July 3, 2023) – The Junior Achievement Florida Foundation has recently received a $70,000 grant from State Farm. The state-wide initiative will support Junior Achievement learning experiences in eight localities throughout Florida, including Greater Miami, enabling thousands of young people to participate in JA’s nationally recognized financial literacy and career readiness learning experiences.

“State Farm believes that financial literacy education is critical to building stronger and more resilient communities” said Jose Soto, State Farm Corporate Responsibility Analyst. “Part of our education funding is directed toward initiatives and programs that support K-12 financial literacy and pathways for college and career success. We are proud to support Junior Achievement financial literacy and career readiness programs across Florida.”

Each of the eight Florida-based JA areas will use the support to advance learning experiences most needed in their region. State Farm’s contribution will enable Junior Achievement of Greater Miami, Inc., to implement a unique learning experience called High School Heroes, where high school students deliver a JA program to elementary schoolers in their community.

JA High School Heroes empowers high school students to learn through teaching while they serve as role models to their younger peers. Elementary school students benefit from having their older peers take an interest in them while also delivering JA’s proven financial literacy learning experiences.

“State Farm’s generous support each year allows Junior Achievement to reach more students throughout Florida who need our programs,” states Catherine Haga, President of Junior Achievement of Greater Miami, Inc., “This widespread impact has widespread results, with more young people possessing the skills and mindset necessary to help our communities thrive.”

Junior Achievement of Greater Miami also offers volunteer opportunities for State Farm associates to participate in classroom activities throughout the school year.
